We did it!! On the Tuesday of the Bank Holiday a group of ladies went and entertained some of the patients at the Whit and Tank hospital.Tuesday
Fancy A Bit of a Knees Up ? That is what we are planning for the morning of Diamond Jubilee Bank Holiday, when we hope to get enough of our W.I. Ladies to entertain the folk at the Whit & Tank with a Medley of Cockney Numbers, some WW II Favourites, and a Flag waving sing-song of patriotic tunes. You don't need to be a good singer, just enthusiastic and keen to cheer up the poorly people on this Special Occasion. It won't spoil your day, as it will only take around twenty minutes: BUT it will make such a difference to those folk. We will need to rehearse (obviously) ...so if you feel you can join us, please let Diane or Audrey know asap.
The first beach clean of 2012
A fearless few took part in the first beach clean of the year. We do it 4 times a year to keep part of the beach in Seasalter clean of plastic, nets and general waste. Photos can be found here.
Christmas Party 2011
This year we had a lovely evening celebrating Christmas all together. There was a great buffet with contributions from all, giving us plenty to eat and enjoy. The green topped belinis are delicious! After dinner, we were entertained by some of the members presenting "A Night at the Movies". Thanks to all involved, especially Barbara and Kelly for their time and dedication. Here are some photos before the entertainment began.
40th Birthday Party - 17th August 2011
We had a lovely day celebrating our 40th birthday. It started with a wonderful meal at the hall provided by the afternoon institute and was followed by a coach trip to Chatham Historic Dockyard. Here we caught the Paddle Steamer and enjoyed a trip along the Medway. This was when we had a slice of delicious birthday cake before coming back home on the coach. Thank you to the committee for their hard work in making this a great celebration. Photos can be seen here.
Seasalter Cross WI sponsor part of the beach. As part of this responsibility, we help keep that stretch of the beach clean, weighing all debris and sending it away for analysis. Carole is the person to speak to if you want to know more about this worthy cause. Photos from our first beach clean can be found here.
Every month we go for a walk. A great social event and a chance to keep fit too! Photos can be seen here.

Two members of the group went to the University of Kent to hear a lecture all about Giles the cartoonist. They were amongst representatives from different groups such as the RNLI and teachers. Afterwards, they had to review all the cartoons due to be on show in a gallery in Whitstable soon and pick the favourite and write a short piece on why it was their favourite and why it represented the WI. This is due back to the organisers in December so watch this space for an update!
We need your recipes!
As an idea to boost our funds, we thought it would be good to collate lots of our favourite tried and tested recipes. We can then create a recipe book and sell them. With the WI endorsement, we are sure they will fly off the shelves, if you know what we mean! If you would like to send in your recipes, there is a form here which you can use. This will make creating the book a bit easier, but however you have your favourite recipe, (hand written, typed, electronic document) please donate it to our recipe book cause.

And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green And was the Holy Lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen.
And did the Countenance Divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills And was Jerusalem builded here Among those dark satanic mills.
